When to Book Christmas Light Installation in Indiana

The short version: if you want lights on your house before Thanksgiving, now is the month to call. Waiting until the first cold snap is how people end up with a dark roofline in December.

I get why nobody thinks about Christmas lights in September. It is still warm, the leaves are still green, and the last thing on your mind is a ladder in the wind. But the install calendar does not care what the weather is doing right now.

When should I book Christmas light installation?

September or October. That is the honest answer, and it is the same answer every professional installer in northern Indiana will give you.

Here is the math on our end. We install in late October and early November so every display is lit before Thanksgiving. That is a narrow window. Once those dates are claimed, they are gone, and our calendar fills by early November.

Returning customers get first pick. When we take a display down in January, we label it and store it, and that customer keeps their install date and their exact display for the next season. So a chunk of the calendar is already committed before new quotes even start coming in.

What does the booking timeline actually look like?

It helps to see the whole season laid out. Nothing here is a promise about a specific date. It is just how the year runs for a lighting crew in this part of Indiana.

Businesses claim the October dates. Storefronts, restaurants, offices and HOAs want to be lit before Thanksgiving shopping starts, so commercial installs go up first. If you run a business, your calendar is even tighter than a homeowner's.

How does the quote work before I commit to anything?

Booking early does not mean signing something blind. Nothing goes on your house until you have seen the design and the exact price and said yes.

Step one: you reach out

Call, text or send the form. You get a free quote back within 24 hours. Tell us what you picture: front roofline only, the whole house, wrapped trees, wreaths, warm white or a multicolor mix.

Step two: we price the design

Four things decide the number. Roofline length and height. Trees, bushes and extras. Access, meaning steep pitches and tricky spots. And how much of the property you want lit.

Most Fort Wayne homes land between $1,500 and $2,500 all inclusive, and roofline packages start at $600. Takedown, storage and any mid-season service call are already in that number. The full breakdown of what moves the price is on our cost page.

Step three: you approve, and the date is yours

Once you approve the design and price, you are on the calendar. That is the whole point of calling in September. The earlier you approve, the more say you have in when we show up.

What is included when I book?

This is where hiring a crew is different from buying strands. You are not paying us to hang lights you bought. We supply everything, and it stays ours to maintain.

• Commercial grade C9 LED lights, custom cut to your roofline so there is no sagging tail or doubled-back strand
• Professional installation by an insured local crew, using commercial clips rated for wind and snow instead of staples
• A timer, so the house lights itself at dusk and shuts off on its own
• Free in-season maintenance. A section goes dark, we come back and fix it at no charge
• January takedown and off-season storage at our facility, handled for you with nothing to haul into your attic

That last one matters more than people expect. Takedown in January is the part homeowners dread, because January in northern Indiana means ice on the roof and a ladder you should not be on. We handle it, and your display comes back next year already cut to fit your house.

Why does booking early matter more here than somewhere warm?

Weather. Our install window is short because of what November does in this part of the state. Wind comes off the lakes, the sun sets before five, and snow shows up on rooflines whenever it feels like it.

A crew can work in the cold. What a crew cannot do is squeeze three weeks of installs into the one dry week between storms. So we start in late October, work steady through early November, and keep the calendar honest about how many houses fit.

There is also drive time. Our service area runs about 45 minutes out from Fort Wayne or Warsaw, and covers towns like North Manchester, Syracuse, Columbia City, Winona Lake, Wabash, Auburn, Churubusco and Huntington. Who is showing up at my house?

Fair question, and worth asking anyone you hire. Elite Christmas Lights is me and my sons, the same family crew behind Elite Soft Wash in Silver Lake. No call center, no franchise, no subcontractors.

We started cleaning homes in 2021 and hung our first light displays last season. This season we are going all in, and I am not going to pretend we have been doing lights for twenty years. What happens on install day?

You do not need to be home, and you do not need to do anything to get ready. We already have your approved design, so the crew shows up knowing exactly what goes where.

1. We measure and cut your C9 line to the roofline, peak by peak, so every run ends where it should
2. We clip it on with commercial clips built for wind and snow, kept straight and evenly spaced
3. We set the timer and test every section before we pull out of the driveway
4. We label the display and note it for storage, so next season it goes right back up the same way

Then you drive home in the dark and the whole house is glowing, and you never touched a ladder. That is the part we are actually selling.
